StolenSpace Gallery is pleased to present ‘Facing the Future,’ a solo show by French artist Jerôme Masi, showcasing his minimalist approach that distills the essence of his surroundings. Capturing subtle details of everyday life and translating them onto canvas, Masi’s work resonates with simplicity and depth.
Reflecting on our current era and the uncertainties ahead, ‘Facing The Future’ places viewers at the intersection of past, present, and future, prompting introspection about our collective journey. Masi’s use of subtle abstraction evokes spiritual reflection, with compositions stripped to their core, inviting viewers to find meaning in the spaces between form and absence.
His figures, depicted looking away, allow the audience to project their own emotions and interpretations onto the scenes. By focusing on the essence of moments rather than details, Masi’s art encourages contemplation on the simplicity and complexity of human behavior and social dynamics. Through these works, he seeks to create moments for reflection and pause in a rapidly changing world.
Born in France in 1977 and a graduate of the Emile Cohl school in Lyon, Masi is known for his minimalist style, featuring large color spaces and simple silhouettes. His work, marked by elegance and poetic undertones, conveys complex themes through simple elements. Initially trained as a designer and illustrator, Masi has exhibited in Paris, London, Geneva, Melbourne, and Hong Kong.
