French duo Murmure Street consist of artsist Paul Ressencourt and Simon Roche, who combine hyperrealism with a twist of surrealism in their work.
After meeting as students, Murmure Street soon realised their shared enthusiasm for drawing and urban art. Together they explore themes of childhood, the homeless, consumer society, new technologies and the environment in a playful, dreamlike or poetic way, presenting their perspective of the world.
The duo state that they always start with a message. To them, the message is more important than the art and graphics they lead to, and perhaps it is the focus on ‘saying something’ that allows for their work to be so resounding. With just a tiny element of colour, the emotional impact of their work is further heightened.
